Rainbow Rise To Flood Clean Up Challenge To Keep School Open

The disaster recovery experts at Rainbow’s Cambridge office came to the rescue of a local school in Bishops Stortford after a flood occurred over a weekend.

The flood clean up required  a large quantity of drying equipment and was  complicated by the school’s need to completely block pupil access to the drying area and to keep the noise and heat from the dryers out of the adjoining classrooms, so they could still be used.

Safety paramount

Initially Rainbow used moisture meters to exactly establish the extent of the water damage. Following a careful risk assessment, Rainbow first worked on minimising trip hazards from removed floorcoverings, pipes and cables.  This allowed the specialist Cambridge team to safely install large dehumidifiers and laminar flow fans to quickly dry the building.

Frame tenting was also installed to allow safe drying of the classroom doorways which had been marginally affected, enabling teaching to continue during the drying process.

Rainbow monitored the drying process remotely and were thus able to remove the equipment as soon as the building was dry, minimising both hire costs and delays to reinstatement.

Why you need to act fast for effective flood clean up

Standing or trapped water following a flood, or escape of water, can lead to serious damage to your property and its contents, with mould, secondary damage and unhygienic living conditions all being potential consequences.

In order to prevent further damage, maintain the structural integrity of your property and good hygiene practices, it’s essential that properties are treated promptly with the correct drying treatments.

The team at Cambridge has the benefit of Rainbow’s 25 years’ experience in flood clean up and has a wealth of technical experience and knowledge, which is why Rainbow are used by many of the UK’s major insurance companies on their policyholder’s claims.
